Good security depends on people who can ask hard questions, understand their tools, and act on evidence. Blackfrost exists to help more people become capable defenders—from learners building their first labs to professionals protecting the systems others depend on.
Blackfrost Research is our branded cybersecurity and professional model side. We develop domain-focused models and specialized adaptations for authorized security work. Our guiding question is what makes the work more useful for you: stronger analysis, clearer understanding, and tools you can evaluate on infrastructure you control.
A community with a shared purpose
We are building a community of intelligent, ethical defenders. To us, that means working with permission, respecting privacy, sharing knowledge responsibly, and turning findings into protection. It also means welcoming questions, crediting contributions, and helping people learn how to verify an answer—not simply asking them to trust one.
You do not need to arrive as an expert. The ambition is to help more people develop the judgment and technical ability to defend themselves and others.
Models built around the work
- CYBER-FROST leads our model work, with an intended role in authorized cybersecurity research, engineering, and response.
- RED-SNOW is our specialist family for authorized red-team and purple-team workflows, connecting controlled assessment to defensive action.
Each repository is the reference for the exact artifact's lineage, license, tested configuration, available results, and limitations. Intended roles are not a claim that every checkpoint has demonstrated every capability.
Quality is a commitment to the user
More releases are not automatically better tools. We will be selective about new adaptations and rarely release on a foundation model's launch day. That gives us room to focus limited development time and compute on practical security value, quality retention, and clearer documentation.
Reducing unnecessary refusals can help legitimate security work. It is not an improvement if the model becomes less capable of reasoning through that work. Our engineering objective is to preserve useful reasoning, technical accuracy, instruction following, and tool use while improving domain usefulness; those tradeoffs require model-specific evidence.
We will continue publishing process research on behavioral modification and quality retention. Going forward, Blackfrost will not release zero-refusal models. Defined red lines remain part of our release requirements. Research findings do not automatically qualify a checkpoint for distribution, and release policy is not a guarantee that any model is infallible. Authorized scope, appropriate controls, and human review remain essential.
Openness that creates opportunity
Blackfrost-AI is our community side: community model work, open-source contributions, research, and practical education. Our open-source work will remain open source. Commercial growth should strengthen that contribution, not replace it.
We believe a healthy AI ecosystem needs both commercial providers and credible open alternatives. More people should have the opportunity to learn, compare approaches, and build expertise rather than depend on a single path to technology. Software and model weights have their own published licenses; consult the exact repository for rights and restrictions.
American-led, accountable to the work
Blackfrost was founded by Terrell A. Lancaster, a United States Army combat veteran. Our American-led company builds on global research today, including Qwen and GLM foundations. An American cybersecurity foundation model built from the ground up is our longer-term ambition—not a description of today's adaptations.
We intend to earn confidence through useful work, clear limitations, and the people we help become better defenders. Explore the community, examine the model cards, or visit blackfrostai.com to discuss professional model requirements and collaboration.
